It’s Raining Stories!

Our Story Time forecast called for rain.

May’s first Preschool Story Time theme reflected our recent rainy weather. In the book,” Itsy Bitsy Spider’ by Lorianne Siomades, the classic rhyme had a humorous twist – not only did the spider go up the drain spout again, but he was prepared!

Just how many insects and animals can fit under a mushroom in the rain? This question is answered in “Mushroom in the Rain” by Mirra Ginsburg. Five woodland creatures take shelter under a mushroom, only to later question how they all managed  to stay safe from the rain. The answer becomes apparent with the help of a frog.

Manya Stojic’s “Rain” told how African animals experience the rain through the five senses, from the Zebras seeing the lightning to the baboons hearing the thunder.  After the hot drying heat, comes the much needed rain, having the animals relishing it’s effects, from cooling mud, to a full watering hole.
