A Blooming May

Summer is so close, but before we can relish those long summer days we have the wonderful month of May to breeze through.  Luckily, there are plenty of programs scheduled to help the time fly by.

Funtime Storytime

  • Funtime Storytime is a drop-in 30 minute program for ages 3-5.  These storytimes consist of age-appropriate stories, songs, and rhymes.   Storytimes are followed by a playtime!  Children and parents alike will make new friends.
  • Registration is not required.  FREE.
  •  Meets on Mondays at 11am on May 7, 14, and 21.

Playful Preschoolers Storytime

  • Register your child for age-appropriate stories, songs, rhymes, and snacks or a simple craft.  Storytimes are followed by a playtime!  Take this opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers while your child plays with new friends.  Ages 4-5.  Registration is required.  FREE.
  • Meets on Tuesdays at 11am on May 8, 15, 22, and 29

Toddler Time Stories

  • Toddler Time is a special storytime for 2 & 3 year olds with a parent or caregiver.   Storytimes consist of age-appropriate stories, songs, fingerplays, and rhymes, with a simple craft or snack.  Toddlers can enjoy a playtime following storytime, while parents and caregivers socialize.  Registration is required.  FREE.
  • Meets on Wednesdays at 11am on May 2, 9, 16, and 23

Babytime Playgroup

  • Babytime Playgroup is a drop-in program for babies from ages birth-24 months.  Enjoy socializing and playing with specially selected age-appropriate toys and board books.  The library will provide toys, early literacy resources, and parenting materials for you and your child to enjoy in a warm and supportive environment with other parents and caregivers.
  • Registration is not required.  FREE.
  • Meets on Fridays at 10am on May 4, 11, 18, and 25.
  • Held in the Children’s Department

 

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta for Kids

What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with a fantastic storytime fiesta!  We’ll be reading stories in Spanish and English, making our very own mini pinatas, and shaking our handmade maracas to celebrate.  Registration is required, please visit or call the Children’s Department at 846-1573 to register.
  • When: Saturday, May 5th at 11am
  • Where: Children’s Department
  • Cost: FREE!

 

Project CHICK

The Children’s Department is hosting an incubator of fertilized chicken eggs from Casey’s FarmThese chicken eggs from Casey’s Farm arrived on April 19th and should hatch around May 11th!   The breeds are Dominique and Rhode Island Reds.  We will keep them for several days after they hatch before returning them to the farm, so be sure to check back and see them in the library after they hatch.

 “Thanks, Mom!” Storytime and Card Making Craft

What better way to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” than with a handmade card from a loved one and a sharing a special storytime?  For ages 4 and up.  All supplies are provided.  Register for this free program by visiting or calling the Children’s Department at 846-1573.
